As to this review of Prime Minister, I've also read the book and loved it. You can find my review here.
This story is predominantly an erotic romance. Is this your first erotic romance? What did you think of the erotic aspects of the romance?
I
thought the sex scenes were exciting and certainly enjoy fantasizing I
have a submissive partner who will do my bidding. However, trying to
balance Gavin being into BDSM and having a kinky side along with both
being desperately in love and having the attitude required to be ‘prime
ministerial’ certainly was challenging and sometimes it came across as
not-believable or even silly. However, as the book progressed and it
became clear they were in love, the scenes became easier to believe and
enjoy.
What did you think of the BDSM aspects of control and dominance with the sex?
First
let me admit that I have a bit of a dark side, but I also want to make
it clear that I am greatly opposed to one person controlling another
person sexually and am ghastly opposed to rape or domination.
However, I do like to fantasize that an older man, a man in a position
of power (such as Gavin is) can bend the will of a smart, younger,
admiring heroine to his will. Therefore, I actually felt this book was
written as much for a man to enjoy as a woman and the hero got what he
wanted as much as the heroine did.
What did you think of Gavin's need for dominance and control in sex, and Ellie's natural submissive sexual nature?
I
could not reconcile Gavin being a Prime Minister and a kinky sex maniac
that would put his career at risk. I thought he was a silly boy
indeed! As for Ellie, how can one not be attracted to a
smart,
submissive, treasure that she is!
Since the hero is a fictional Prime Minister of Canada, what did you think of the political aspects of the story? Do you think there was enough substance to the politics in the story?
In
general, I felt the book was extremely well-written and well-researched
from the political angles to the hockey angles. Yes, I thought there
was sufficient political intrigue and it was covered well.
What did you think of Gavin and Ellie?
Well
as an older, corporate figure who found his own Ellie (as in the
wonderful Deanna of Deanna’s World), one has to simply love
Ellie! I also felt Ellie was a real person and strong when it
was
demanded of her and thought about her life and her life with Gavin and
acted appropriately. I felt Gavin was a bit of a goof, not deserving to
be Prime Minister. When I was growing up in the ‘60s and ‘70s it was
just assumed that a woman could not be President or any leader of the
free world, as she would be hounded by PMS and God forbid, push the Big
Red Button to launch the nuclear warheads at the Russians, and we could
just not trust a woman to act appropriately when her hormones were
raging due to PMS. I felt the same distrust of Gavin making the right
judgement calls given he had a massive erection throughout 90% of the
book!
What there anything in particular about the story or writing that stood out to you?
I
thought the book was extremely well-written with regard to style and
anecdotes. I was really surprised to find out it had co-authors as I
heard only one voice throughout. The two authors collaborated with
great success on this book.
Would you read other books by these authors, either together or individually?
Yes,
I would be tempted to. But not sure I am interested in reading a sequel
on Max as he seems a lot darker and more into BDSM than Gavin and that
would be too much for me.
How do you think the cohesiveness of the story was given it was written by two authors? Could you tell?
I was truly surprised to
find out the book had two authors.
What's next on your reading list?
I await my next assignment
for the next Manview (which is a fairly submissive position to be in
myself!)
