I'm in the process of trying to catch up on posting some reviews. Being
away on vacation and not reading as much, writing blog posts 2 months
in advance has put me right behind. I have a heap of reviews I haven't
posted. As you can see, this is not a current book but very much a
beloved series by Thea Harrison. I'm actually quite caught up on the

Happy birthday Mr Manview | New Release: God of Wine by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff
Today's post is a little different.
It's my Steve's birthday today, and coincidentally, it's also (close to) release day for Mimi Jean Pamfiloff's new book God of Wine.
What does the release of God of Wine have anything to do with my gorgeous boy's birthday?
Well, if you don't know, Steve's a bit of a wine guy. He's written a book called Wine Sense: The Art of Appreciating Wine. Granted it's non-fiction and there's no sexy, ab-tastic, hunk of a wine god in it, but it's a might good read for anyone who likes wine and wants to expand on their wine knowledge and maximise their enjoyment of their wine drinking experience.
So, a little shameless plug for both books. (Note: I do not know Ms Pamfiloff personally, I'm just tickled by the title of her book and kinda want to read it just because!).
Happy birthday, my darling. I think we might need to get you to read God of Wine for a Manview.

Review: Dr Bad Boy (Frisky Beavers #2) by Ainsley Booth and Sadie Haller #MoniqueReviews
This is a book that I'm dying to read. I was so excited to get my hands
on it. I haven't read it yet so I'm not spoiling it for myself by
reading Monique's review ... I skimmed it. I was meant to read the book
weeks ago but family / life stuff got in the way of reading. My

Books I have not finished in 2016 #3
Every now and then there's a book that doesn't work for me. Here are a
few that have been like that in the last few months.
Review: Broken Play (Birmingham Rebels #1) by Samantha Kane
I had high hopes for Broken Play. It started off great. I was asking around for a recommendation on a book about American football since we are visiting the US and I've been relegated to the status of "football widow" on Sunday nights when Steve's team is playing. I don't know much about football, so I have a million questions and I have to admit, cuddling in Steve's arms while he watches the game and answers my questions is kinda fun. I'm glad Steve put up with all my questions. What happened? Why did they do that? Was that bad? Who is that?

Guest post: The end ... or maybe not? by Christina Phillips | New Release: Tainted (The Druid Chronicles #4)
Finally, the fourth book in The Druid Chronicles series. What a journey it has been! I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have. I've thoroughly enjoyed having Christina visit the bloggity and also reading the books, which I am slowly making my way through. Don't you love Christina's writing?
I particularly loved Chrsitina's portrayal of all the women in the series so far. I'm looking forward to learning more about Antonia in thist story. I bet she's going to give Gawain a run for his money. :-)

The heroes of the previous three books were all Roman, and in Tainted I wanted to mix things up. There was a Celt warrior, Gawain, who first appeared in book 1, Forbidden, and I had readers contact me asking when I was going to write his story. It took a while, but I knew he needed a very special heroine to help him heal from the past and I found her in the Roman noblewoman, Antonia.

A romance with just the "good parts" by Cara Bristol | New Release: Body Talk
I've been reading Cara's
Cy-Ops Sci-Fi Romance series from day one cos I love me some yummy
cyborg goodness so when she asked if I'd host her for her new book Body
Talk which focuses solely on all the sexy parts of a romance novel, I
was "yes, definitely" because don't we all love the sexy parts? Sure,
we read romance for the journey, the emotion, the way the author treats
social and personal issues, but let's face it, the sexy parts give them
oomph, yeah?
I remember as a teen reading Mills & Boon historicals. The sexy parts were few and far between, usually behind closed doors. I would savor those parts, lament they were too short and go back to read them again to see if I had missed something because they were so short. And then my rather acrive teenage imagination ran wild. Wild! I tell you!! Oh, the things I imagined!!
So now we have an ENTIRE book of sexy bits. Oooooh!!!!!!

Hello! Back from vacation, an update and an apology
Hello! Hello!
I'm back!
Yeah, after more than two months away, I am back from my "vacation" in the US. Truth be told, it hasn't been much of a vacation if you've followed me on my journey where I've talked about it in previous blog posts here and here. Mostly I was lamenting the lack of reading done while on the trip since we spent most of it in hospital and caring for Steve's dad who took ill. Seriously, reading laments aside, he got very sick and we thought he was going to die. We are glad we were around to help look after him and help out Steve's mom. For those of you asking, Steve's dad is on the mend. He is currently in transitional care and is slowly but steadily improving. We hope he will be home soon.
I love this picture of mom kissing dad good night while he was in hospital. Such a sweet and tender moment. They have been married 64 years.
