Desert island keeper books

Over the years I've seen people ask the question that if you were stranded on on desert island which books would you keep with your or bring with you to read. In the beginning, I couldn't make up a list because I've read and enjoyed so many books it was hard to pick. But over the years, some books have stood out to me and you've probably heard me mention some of them here and there too. Not in any particular order, here are the books I'd bring with me to a desert island. I didn't limit the number of books so this is probably a lot to carry to a desert island, but I'm hoping I'd be able to bring a box instead of a small bag. 🙂

Books I have not finished 2020 #3

I've been reading a lot more this year. Maybe it's because of the pandemic because I'm home all the time now. Maybe I'm more motivated to read. Maybe I've become addicted to reading (that's not a bad thing). With more reading, there is also a bigger chance of duds happening. I'm trying a lot more recommendations from people in book groups and more likely to try new authors from Kindle Unlimited. A lot of my reading is from KU these days. I love that subscription.

So without further ado, here's more books I didn't finish for whatever reason.

What Helen Read #52: September 2020

So happy to report that Helen is continuing to mend and she's back to reading again. She's had a good reading month in September and enjoyed a lot of what she read.

Interesting side note. I have a friend who used to read a lot. Her life has changed and she's not reading as much as she's busy with other things. I mentioned something about reading a lot lately to her and she said that yeah, she used to read a lot too when she had no life. That got me thinking. Is reading something you do if you have no life? I don't feel that way. I love reading and reading is a large part of my life. I don't think I've ever even considered saying that I read because I have no life. I prefer reading over doing a lot of other things. Even over socialising and peopling. What do you think?

Book requests for recommendations are strange

So, I'm in a few book groups. I used to be in more because I liked seeing what was being recommended, what people wanted to read, and trending. Then it got overwhelming and irrelevant, and I lost interest. I left most of them but stayed in a couple that I still enjoyed. In these groups, people are constantly asking for book recommendations. Some of them pique my interest, some of them don't. And then there are some of them that are utterly bizarre to me that I would not touch with a ten-foot barge pole.

What Deanna Read #56: September 2020

Can you believe it? We are through with three-quarters of the year already. It's already October. How did the time fly by so fast with all the craziness that's going on?

How are things going in your neck of the woods? Things are getting better here. We've had zero community transmitted covid cases for over a week now. Only one or two quarantine cases each day from people returning from overseas. I found out that we still have over 26,000 Australians stranded overseas waiting to come home. Because the country is limiting the number of people arriving each day to manage quarantine and spread, only five hundred people are allowed into the country each day. We are being super cautious.

On the reading front, it's been a good month. Some shorter books and lots of binge reading. I never thought I was much of a binge reader cos I like variety but boy, did I binge read a bunch of stuff and blew threw a few series. That was fun.

Seems like this is the month for tropes. I promise I didn't plan it like that. I just realised that I assumed everyone would know what a trope is but I've seen some people asking questions about it. A trope is a common theme in a romance that usually forms the basis for the overarching story. Tropes are many and varied and can range from simple to complex. Some more popular tropes include second chance romance and enemies to lovers.
