Around the World 175 Times with Gill the Literary Nomad

Around the world in 175 books

I’ve always said that reading is my ultimate escape, but y’all, I think Reader Gill might have actually figured out how to fold time and space. I was looking over her 2025 reading logs (she sends them to me every month, for which I am very grateful) and I was very suitably impressed. 175 books in a single year!

2022 Recap: Helen's Top 10 reads

Helen's 2022 top 10

Is Thursday the new Wednesday now? Maybe? The last few posts have landed on a Thursday and it seems like Wednesday evening tends to be the day when I can sit down and put a blog post together. Maybe I'll get back to Wednesdays at some point when I continue to try to get my life back on track. 😊

2022 Recap: Deanna's Top 10 reads

Deanna's 2022 top 10 books read

Right, I'm kinda behind on this post. I do not know why it took me so long to sit down and make this list, but it took me ages to do it. So, finally, it's 4:54am on a Wednesday morning and this post usually goes up at 6am, so this is going to be interesting. Not sure if I'll get it done on time and I'm still debating going back to sleep since I didn't get to sleep till 1am-ish.

2021 Recap: Deanna's Top 10 reads

Champagne toast

Hello and Happy New Year!!

I can't believe 2021 is over already. The year went by so quickly. Maybe I'm just getting older and time seems to pass faster the older I get. It's been one heck of a year. The pandemic was still going full speed ahead and we're not out of the woods yet with another major outbreak. Sigh.

2020 Recap: Deanna's Top 10 reads

Champagne with snowy cabin

Hello and Happy New Year!!

Well, 2020 was a crazy year, wasn't it? It was filled with difficulties and challenges but also a lot of hope. I know a lot of people struggled and I hope that for those of you who read, you found solace in your books. For me, I read a lot. More than I've ever read in previous years. It's quite an accomplishment but then again, there was nowhere to go, so lots of reading.

Desert island keeper books

Books on a beach

Over the years I've seen people ask the question that if you were stranded on on desert island which books would you keep with your or bring with you to read. In the beginning, I couldn't make up a list because I've read and enjoyed so many books it was hard to pick. But over the years, some books have stood out to me and you've probably heard me mention some of them here and there too. Not in any particular order, here are the books I'd bring with me to a desert island. I didn't limit the number of books so this is probably a lot to carry to a desert island, but I'm hoping I'd be able to bring a box instead of a small bag. 🙂

Welcome to another instalment of our Top Reads for 2019. Here's Helen with her top 10... okay, top 19. She couldn't get the list of books down any lower. Total cheat BTW because I struggled and managed to get it down to 10 with 2 honorable mentions, but yeah, a top 19 for Helen.

Without further ado, let's take a look at Helen's list.

2019 Recap: Deanna's Top 10 reads

Happy New Year 2020

Hello and Happy New Year!!

Do you know, what they say about time going faster as you get older is true. I don't know where 2019 went and it went fast.

At the beginning of 2019, I didn't think I'd get much reading done because I was working on a very demanding project. Fortunately, the project ended about the middle of the year and I was able to find more time to read. I'm very glad of that as I've enjoyed my reading and I've missed it. Ended up with a very respectable over 150 books read for the year. Not quite a personal best but certainly streets ahead of the goal I set for myself.

Here are my top 10 books read for 2019 (and an honorable mention). You'll see a few familiar names on the list. Not in any particular order ....

2018 Recap: Deanna's Top 10 reads

Happy New Year 2018

Hello and Happy New Year!!

It's that time of the year again? How did the year whiz by so fast? For me, it was because I went back into full-time corporate work and holy moly! The pace has been hectic.

How has your year been?

I've had lots of excellent reads this year though admittedly most of my reads were from the first half of 2018 and my reading slowed right down after June started. Still, some excellent books were read.

Here are my top 10 for 2018 (and a couple extra). Not in any particular order ....

2017 Recap: Deanna's Top 10 reads

Happy New Year 2018

Hello and Happy New Year!!

I hope you had a wonderful New Year's Eve celebration. As usual, it was a quiet one for us. We watched some TV, stayed up a bit to watch the early fireworks and then headed to bed for a cuddle and some reading. We are such fuddy duddies!! :-p

How did you celebrate?

And now, with the New Year, let's do a little 2017 recap shall we? I'm keeping it simple this year. Just the Top 10 reads from myself and Helen. It's been a hectic 2017 and I didn't want to put too much pressure on anyone to produce anything extra and just focus on enjoying the festivities.

To start it off, here's my list of top 10 reads for 2017. You will notice a bit of a pattern here. A lot of favorites and repeat authors. That is not a surprise at all. These authors are consistently 4.5 or 5 star reads for me and this is what I've included in this list. Technically, there are more than 10 but hey, we love books, so that's OK, right? :-)

Not in any particular order ....

2016 Recap: Top author reads

Hello and welcome to the last of my 2016 recap. It's been a while in coming (blame the chockers blog schedule!) but I'm very glad to share with you some favorite reads from some of my favorite authors. These lovely authors have been kind enough to share with us a few of their top reads for the year. Authors are readers too so I just love finding out what they've loved and getting to showcase them here. Plus, I'm sure I'll find a good book or several here.

2016 Recap: Helen's top 10 reads

Welcome to another instalment of our Top Reads for 2016. Here's Helen with her top 10 ... ahem 12 actually ... :-) she couldn't choose between the last three. :-) I know the feeling. So many good books!

When asked a question such as this “what were your favourite 10 reads of 2016?” It is like asking me who my favourite child is. :-)

2016 was a great year for reading for me. There were so many wonderful stories that kept me smiling, feeling emotions and traveling the world from my armchair. So I will try to do my best.

Hello and Happy New Year!!

I hope you had a wonderful New Year's Eve celebration. We had a quiet one which is normal for us. Steve likes to take the time to contemplate the year before and consider what he would like to accomplish for the year ahead. I treat it like any other night and often even forget to put the fireworks on on TV. It's a quiet night in for us, just the way we like it.

How did you celebrate?

And now, with the New Year, let's do a little 2016 recap shall we? In the coming weeks, I will be bringing you top reads by the Deanna's World bloggity reviewers and I've also asked a few authors to contribute and tell me what their top reads for the previous year were. After all, authors are readers too!!

To start it off, here's my list of top 10 reads for 2016. You will notice a bit of a pattern here. A lot of favorites and repeat authors. I may have indulged in some favorites this year on top of reading a lot of new stuff. These were all 5 star reads for me.

Not in any particular order ....
