2017 Recap: Helen's Top 10 reads

Welcome to another instalment of our Top Reads for 2017. Here's Helen with her top 10 ... and a few others ... :-) It's so hard to narrow it down to only 10!!

Without further ado, let's take a look at Helen's list.

The Greatest Gift by Rachael Johns
This one blew me away not a romance but a woman’s fiction, and you will need a box of tissues to read this one. It follows the lives of an egg donor and the family that received the egg. It is moving, emotional and I loved it.

Now You're Mine by Avril Tremayne
Oh my God, what can I say? This is an amazingly powerful story it is steamy and sexy, and there is humour. Yes, it has it all - a gorgeous hero, Kalan and a very vulnerable heroine, Jenna who journey to the best HEA. Their path is hot with a very exotic flavour. I couldn’t put it down.

Ten Days With The Highlander by Hayson Manning
I have said it before and will say it again, Ms Manning knows her craft. She knows how to pull a reader in with fabulous characters that will make you melt, smile, laugh, cry, and sigh. I am still smiling big time after finishing this awesome story.

The Traitor's Girl by Christine Wells
This is such a fabulous story. It is so well written. The characters came to life on the pages with Russian spies, MI5 secret agents, and what they all did and went through just before the war, during it, and after with lives and loves lost. There is so much happening, so many memories. Ms Wells took me on a compelling journey with this one.

  

Sydney Smoke Rugby series by Amy Andrews
Playing the Player | Playing with Forever
There have been four books in this series so far - two I read last year and two so far this year and there is no way I can choose a favourite out of them. I cannot leave them out either. They are fabulous steamy, sexy and fun stories. Ms Andrews has a way with words that will pull you in and have you sighing.

Leaving Ocean Road by Esther Campion
Huge congratulations must go to Ms Campion for a fabulous debut book. It was amazing. It pulled me in from page one, and that was it. I didn’t want to put it down. I got lost in this beautiful story of heartache, of life and of learning living again. Set in Australia and Ireland, I did some fabulous armchair travelling in this one.

The Stationmaster's Cottage by Phillipa Nefri-Clark
Wow! This is such an awesome story. It is a debut for Ms Nefri-Clark and a total winner. Such an amazing story, it’s a time slip set in the late 1960s and the present - a story of family secrets, true love, and lost love. My advice is - make yourself comfortable and sit back with this one because you are not going to want to put it down. I just adored this one and the sequel as well, Jasmine Sea.

Marry In Haste by Anne Gracie
I loved this one from page one. I was laughing so much throughout. Emm and Cal are just made for each other. Emm’s personality works so well with Cal. He has this idea that with these girls his family will run smoothly and let him get back to what he thinks he should be doing, well maybe not. Ms Gracie writes stories that are magical, and I can’t recommend them enough.

Catching Captain Nash by Anna Campbell
You can’t go wrong with an Anna Campbell story. They are sure to leave you smiling, and this one was so good. This is one of the Dashing Widow novellas - a reunion story that had me shedding a few tears, but of course, turning the pages.

 

The Greek's Forbidden Princess  by Annie West
Ms West is an auto-buy author for me. Her stories are magical journeys to the most gorgeous countries. Her heroes are to die for and so very loving, and her heroines strong and loving. For me, I have a real soft spot for a Greek hero, and well, Lambis is so very vulnerable, so afraid to love until Princess Amelie walks into his life again. This was the second in a series, and it was a toss-up between the two.

      

I could have added a lot more to this list, but I had to stop at ten. For me, there are very few books that I do not get into and thoroughly enjoy reading. Romance and woman’s fiction is sure to take me on lots of journeys that make me smile. And I thank the authors who write them for us readers. Nineteen Letters is up there as well by Jodi Perry, Sarah and the Secret Sheikh by Michelle Douglas, Conveniently Wed to the Greek by Kandy Shepherd and I have just read Tea Cooper’s The Naturalist’s Daughter. Wow!
