Synopsis
Frances Thorne learned at an
early age to rely on herself. Yet, losing her job and her home and
watching her father carted off to debtor’s prison all in one day, is
too much for her to bear alone. When a generous offer of assistance
falls into her lap, she ignores her better instincts and decides to
take a chance. The last thing she needs is for the infuriating Lord
Lucan Montwood to stand in her way.
The end of the bachelors’ wager is near, and Lucan Montwood can taste victory. Yet, on the precipice of finally gaining freedom from his debts, he’s incensed to learn that the beautiful Frances Thorne has fallen into an insidious trap in the guise of a new position. Lucan can’t deny the way her lips call to him and knows he must risk his own future to ensure her safety.
Convincing her to trust him is the hard part and resisting her is next to impossible. But falling in love with her? That’s far too simple.

Excerpt
“I’m not going to kiss you again,” he said firmly. Yet when he looked down to her mouth, he didn’t seem entirely sure.
Her lips tingled. “I made no request.”
“Yes, you did. You are,” he accused her, lifting both hands to cradle her face. He held her still as he leaned in, not quite kissing her. Not quite touching her with his lips. But almost. “I never should have kissed you in the first place.”
“That’s correct. You only kissed me to make a point, after all.” Unfortunately, she couldn’t remember the point at the moment. The darkness was wreaking havoc with her sense of reason, casting a spell.
“I can still taste you, Miss Thorne.”
A small whimper rose from her throat. His words shocked her. Thrilled her. “What do I taste like?”
“Temptation in its purest form.”

Author interview
I'm delighted to have Vivienne join me to anwer a few questions for the blog. Please give her a very warm welcome ...
Thank you for having me here today!
Where are you from?
I have lived in the
Midwest all of my life, not far from Lake Michigan or the Fighting
Irish.
Tell us your latest news?
THE MADDENING LORD
MONTWOOD is available! Yay! This is the third and final book of The
Rakes of Fallow Hall Series.
I first introduced Lucan Montwood in The Wallflower Wedding Series as a charming rake with a dark past. Now, readers will find out his story and meet our independent, headstrong heroine, Frances Thorne, who challenges him at every turn and tempts him beyond reason. I loved writing these characters!

What book are you reading now?
The Liar by Nora Roberts
What are your current projects?
I’m currently writing a
novella for the Avon Christmas anthology, All I Want for Christmas is a
Duke. This Regency anthology will also feature stories from USA Today
bestselling author, Ashlyn Macnamara, along with Valerie Bowman and
Tiffany Clare.
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I grew up in a family of
storytellers, and of Sunday gatherings around a harvest table. My
father was one of ten children, eight of them boys with mischievous
natures and a competition between them to see who could make my
grandmother faint. You can imagine the wild tales and raucous laughter
that filled the dining room.
My own storytelling spawned from those moments, and also from a love of fairy tales. From there, it was nurtured by a kind and wise teacher, who suggested writing as a method to find my way through a difficult time in my life. I’ve been writing ever since.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?
I’d love to! In this
scene, Frances Thorne can’t seem to stop herself from admiring Lucan’s
sexy backside.
Lucan stood. The tails of his coat fell into place. Only then did she realize she’d been staring quite fixedly at the strong lines of his shoulders, the narrowness of his hips, and his backside. Again.
Keeping a hand draped over the dog’s scruff, he gently thrummed his fingers in time with ticking clock stand in the corner. “Miss Thorne, I do not mean to alarm you, but you are about to meet two of the most determined young women of my acquaintance.”
Curious, her gaze locked on the open doorway. “Determined for what, precisely?”
“To see me married by year’s end.” He said the words with such gravity that a streak of alarm did indeed shoot through her. “They will see you here and begin plotting instantly, especially if you continue to ogle my person when my back is turned.”
She started. There was no way he could have known—but then she noticed the reflective glass in the door of the clock stand and felt her cheeks betray her. “I was not ogling you. Not at all. You have a . . . a spot on your coat, and I was debating whether or not to tell you.”
“Is it a large spot or a small spot?” He grinned.
She narrowed her eyes, feeling the tips of her lashes brush against her lenses. “Hideously large, like your ego.”

Who designed the covers?
Avon has the most amazing
artists in their art department. They’ve created one stunning cover
after the next, and I can’t decide which one is my favorite. Do you
have a favorite?
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Keep writing no matter
what. Every day. Nurture the half-crazed beast that lives inside of
your mind. Let it out to play. Feed it often. Then, most importantly,
do something special for yourself.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I’m grateful for having
readers who willingly turned that first page and kept going. I feel
blessed every time someone clicks “like” on my Facebook page, sends me
a message, or signs up for my newsletter. Thank you all, and I wish you
every blessing that life can offer.
