What Helen Read #54: November 2020

Welcome to the middle of December! Do you know what struck me today? In about three weeks, it's going to be 2021. How is that for a total mind eff? Boom! That thought had not even occurred to me. Did I mention my mind boggles? How are you going preparing for the end of the year? Anything special going on? Are you able to spend Christmas with your family? We are not having Christmas this year with the family even though there are no restrictions to the gathering because... reasons. Family stuff, ya know. So I think I'll have my parents over to my place on Christmas Day for drinks and nibbles, or if they don't want to come on Christmas Day, I'm thinking lunch at our favorite restaurant one day when the restaurant is open again after Christmas. Anyway, enough blathering on from me.

Books I have not finished 2020 #4

I've learned something which should have been obvious but alas, sometimes I'm not that observant. I've read a lot more books this year. Broke my all time high record, actually. What I've learned is with reading a lot more books, I'm also finding more books I've loved, and more books that were duds. The proportion of those books remain approximately the same, but since I've read over 300 books this year instead of my usual 150+, there are a lot more that didn't make the cut. I was debating whether to list them all here today (there are a lot!) or break them up and spread them into next year. I've decided not to overwhelm you because who wants to listen to me grumble about books I didn't enjoy ad nauseum?

So without much further ado, here's some books I have not finished recently.

What Deanna Read #58: November 2020

Hello and happy December!!! Can you believe it? 2020 is almost over. I want to say that 2021 will be better but I think at least early on (not to be a Debbie Downer) it's going to be pretty much the same as 2020 at least until a vaccine is available. On the positive side, it looks like a vaccine is on the near horizon.

Not that it affects you at all, Amazon has changed their links to book cover images. This presents a real problem for me since I link to their images for the bloggity. Now I'm wondering what's the best thing to do for images for book covers and I'm not sure what to do because the best option which I can control myself is A LOT of work. Decisions, decisions.

What happens to the books after an author dies?

A few years ago, a favorite author of mine and Steve's passed away. He was young and it was tragic. A battle against cancer he lost. With his death, he left behind a barely started manuscript of his latest book. Now, this author is a bestselling author, and he's rather famous in the thriller genre. They were even in the process of making a movie from one of his books. I was thinking about his passing and what happened to his books because the story didn't end there.

Mountain men are deeper than you think

I've been on a mountain men binge lately. I got stuck into the trope with these gruff, grumpy, burly men, and I can't let go. And before you laugh your ass off at me, let me explain. What I've learned surprised me too. They are not all fluff reads. Okay, some of them are fluff reads. :-p
