Making the most of opportunities when life comes calling

I sure try not to make a habit of this, but I do have a regret from my later teen years—I wish I’d taken a year after high school to go see some of the world. Visiting the Vatican, exploring the Amazon, stuffing my face with pasta in Italy, visiting a sheep farm in New Zealand are all things I wish I’d done when I was still relatively unencumbered.

What Helen Read #13: April 2017

I think I finally caught a break. Helen went away on vacation for 2 weeks and didn't get to read much. As a result, I think I have more books read than her. :-p I know, it's a bit like cheating, but I'll take it.

What Deanna Read #15: April 2017

I think I said it for March, but April ZOOMED past, y'all!! ZOOMED! I blinked and I think I missed it.

Anyhoo, I did have a good reading month. I got stalled a little towards the end of the month and one book I wanted to fit into April didn't make it, but still ... a good month.

Writing reviews is hard y'all! I can't even tell you the number of times my bud Bambi writes and tells me she needs to write a review and has nothing to say or that she simply just doesn't want to Write. Another. Review. When you read a lot of books and you write reviews, there's a lot of reviews to write.

When I first decided the start the blog, the idea of writing reviews was what scared me the most. Second was making sure I had enough content to keep the blog going but that's another post for another day.

Prior to the bloggity, I never wrote reviews. I might have written the odd short one on Amazon if the mood took me or if the book moved me in a significant way, but I never thought about the book from a review perspective when I wrote. I only gave a star rating for the books I'd read. It felt like too much of a commitment to actually write down what I felt or perhaps it was sheer laziness on my part.
