Mountain men are deeper than you think

Axe in log

I've been on a mountain men binge lately. I got stuck into the trope with these gruff, grumpy, burly men, and I can't let go. And before you laugh your ass off at me, let me explain. What I've learned surprised me too. They are not all fluff reads. Okay, some of them are fluff reads. :-p

Family is important

Family in a field

This is a deviation from our usual book talk, but I've been thinking about this lately, what with the pandemic making it difficult to visit loved ones and what that means to me.

Why do authors do what they do? by Echo Shea

Well hello!! If you're a long time reader of the bloggity you'll know I recently talked about how authors have release schedules and some stick to it, some don't. I was a little ranty and put my reader hat on and talked about how it affects us as readers and how we react to it. I was chatting about with my author friend Echo Shea and I asked if she's like to write a rebuttal. Give us the author perspective and what happens behind the scenes that drive some decisions that we do not know about. Here's Echo's thoughts on the subject.

What Helen Read #53: October 2020

We are another week closer to Christmas. Our shops have already started with the Christmas decorations and the Christmas foods. I've already purchased a few treats that usually only come out during the Christmas season. Cookies, biscuits, cakes. Lots of yummy, naughty treats. Are you prepared for Christmas? Will you be able to celebrate where you are? We are not sure if we will have Christmas this year because of all the rules around visiting and some family members continuing to choose to completely isolate. Might be the first time in many years that we will not have Christmas. That's going to be strange. I love the family time that we have together as well as the yummy food my mother books.

Here's what Helen read for the last month.
