I recently read a book that had a ton of whisky references and if you have been following my book quotes for a while, you know I love whisky references. Steve is a big whisky drinker, and while I do not drink it, I am fascinated by it and I've learned a lot about it just listening to Steve talk about it and visiting many distilleries on our trip to Scotland last year. Anyhoo, I hope you indulge me as I indulge in some whisky love.

Macallan is a very well known whisky. They have great marketing but they also make great whisky. Most discerning whisky drinkers will have a bottle of Macallan in their collection. I think Steve has three.

Now we get a little more detailed. The Macallan 25 year old is a very nice whisky. The older they get, the more expensive they become. This one costs a pretty penny but nothing unobtainable for a billionaire.

The Lagavulin is an interesting whisky and an acquired taste. It's known to be a peaty whisky and as such tastes like peat, which is smokey and burnt. Some people love it. Some people don't. Steve likes it in small doses so more of a light peat. He does have a Lagavulin in his collection since it's a popular whisky for the style.

Ah, back to the Macallan. Great drink. Easily recognisable. Most bars will stock the 12 year old or even the 15 or 18 year olds but of course, those get a lot more expensive per shot as the age of the whisky increases. Not a problem for billionaires though.

This quote made me giggle. The hero, Zane is trying to help the heroine, Monroe relax and get some sleep. He's warming up some milk for her. She's Irish and he prefers his Scotch whisky. It a clash of the whiskies. The Irish do make some good whisky though. The Red Breast 21 year old is excellent and Steve has a bottle in his collection.

Now this is a special one. I saved it for last because it has a story. If you want all the details, you can read about it here. This whisky is so rare that only 40 bottles were ever made and they were slowly released into the market over the years as special limited editions. The most recent bottle sold for about $1.9M US dollars. I don't know who would pay so much for a bottle but at that price, would it be a collector's item or would you drink it?

So that's it from me on the quotes. I hope you've enjoyed them and got a little peek into how my brain works while I'm reading. If you've got a particular book quote that you love, do share them with me. I've love to know what stays with you and stands out for you while you're reading.
