A wedding. An ex. And a secret.
Maid-of-Honor Dani Brown can handle anything that comes her way when it comes to her best friend's wedding. That is, until the bride asks for a huge favor-Dani needs to distract the best man, who happens to be Dani's ex. The ex she has fantasized dismembering for a year now. The ex she'll have to suck it up and play nice with if this wedding is to go off without a hitch.
Businessman Jamie Kingsland is back in Seattle for a wedding. There's just one problem - the maid of honor wants him dead. Except she doesn't. Even though he knows he broke her heart last year when things got too serious and he panicked and left, she's being way too nice about it now. And it scares him.
Something is up with his favorite bridesmaid, and he's determined to find out what...

This was a very pleasant, enjoyable read. I'm generally not a fan of second chance romances because a lot of them tend to have too much negativity, hard feelings and angst associated with them, but this was not the case.
Dani is a wonderful heroine. She's kind, understanding and a true friend when she agrees to do Roxy a favor by being nice to her ex who dumped her after she declared her feelings for him and ran off to Florida. I liked she was self aware enough to recognise how she felt about Jamie and they managed to clear the air as adults right up front in order to move on. My heart ached for Dani as she dealt with her own feelings for Jamie even as she tried to be logical, move on and a friend.
As for Jamie, he's such a confused fellow. Poor guy, he had such bad examples of love and relationships growing up that he didn't know which way was up and what was good. He's genuinely a nice guy who didn't set out to hurt Dani but was so messed up himself, he did it anyway. I wanted to think he was a total jerk for how he treated Dani, but he's not.
There were moments when the secondary cast of characters somewhat annoyed me but it was not a major detractor to the story.
Overall, this was sweet and charming. I'm hoping that Ms Brux will write stories for Kinni and Joya as I'd like to see them find a happy ending with Roxy meddling and matchmaking (poorly!) on their behalf.

About the author
Boone is a bestselling author in both fantasy and series romance. She began writing in an attempt to ward of the slow decomposition of her mind while being an at-home-mom of twin toddlers. It soon became clear that storytelling was her true calling.
Her books range from epic fantasy, full of hot heroes and demons, to humorous urban fantasy, where hockey moms are grim reapers and Greek gods live next door. Though she loves writing romance, Boone prefers stories where she gets to blow something up or kill somebody.
She calls Alaska home and lives there with her husband, daughters, rescue dog, Oreo, and Velma Underfoot, a black cat who rules the house.
