As I said earlier, I read a bit more in July and it was because I was stuck in bed and unwell a lot.
The one thing I learned about myself when I was ill and reading was that I tended to read a lot more Daddy books. I know, I know, it's not everyone's thing, but I gravitate to it because of the heroes. They are protective and possessive, but not crazy obsessive, although some of them can be quite bonkers. However, they are also very caring, tender, and the core characteristic about the Daddy heroes is that they are all really into looking after the heroine. There's something (to me) very comforting in reading about a heroine who is cared for, pampered, coddled, and cuddled. I'm in a certain headspace when I need to read that kind of book. It's like reading a warm hug. I'm sure everyone has their own version of what reading warm hug is like.
So on that front, I read a lot of the West Coast Daddies series by Kate Oliver, and I also enjoyed Little Dove by Layla Frost. Little Dove surprised me because I had heard about it when it was first released a few years ago and I had it on my to-read list, but at the time, I didn't read it because I thought it might have been too dark for me. Well, it's not now. Plus with the Daddy element, it works.
Anna Hackett released Stone, a novella in her Sentinel Security series... mmm... a silver fox. Sign me up. And also a short story set in the Norcross Security world called Mr & Mrs Norcross featuring Vander Norcross. Yeah! That was a fun one too.
And finally, Laylah Roberts released Daddy's Soul and let me tell you, I have been waiting for Reuben's book for a long time and I think Reuben might be my new Daddy hero.
That's it from me. What did you read last month?
PS. I have made my list for my top 10 for 2023 (hey, that's progress!!), so that's coming soon. Soon...
