As far as Nina Beaumont is concerned, money ruins everything. Leave it to her wealthy family to screw up her professional life and her personal life. When she crashes and her car sinks, sending her identification and all her belongings spiraling into the watery abyss, Nina sees her chance to escape.

And stumbles into a job with the hottest man she’s ever met…as his maid.

Between running an inn, caring for his grandmother, and trying to keep the dirty-dealing Beaumont Corporation from stealing his land, Joe Farina's plate is full. He doesn't have time for romantic entanglements—especially not with the suspiciously bad maid he just hired, no matter how much he needs her…both in and out of his bed.

Screwing with her life is one thing, but Nina’s not about to let her family screw with Joe. That is, if she doesn’t lose him when he finds out who she really is.

I have had a thing for the maid trope ever since I watched Maid in Manhattan starring Jennifer Lopez. In my young impressionable days, it seemed like such a wildly romantic Cinderalla story and I loved it. Now whenever I come across a story with a maid trope, I jump on it. This did not disappoint.

When I started reading this story, I thought that Nina was a spoiled, rich brat acting out against daddy's wishes. Even when she got into trouble and had the opportunity to reinvent herself for a little while, I thought she was brash and irresponsible but as the story progressed Nina became a hardworking young woman who wanted people to like her, respect her and love her for herself, not her surname and not her daddy's money. She knew all along she was lying to Joe and she felt guilty over it. She also knew the limitations she had on this escape and was willing to accept what was offered her. She had something to prove to herself as a person and I think she managed to do that well.

Joe is the sort of steady and responsible self-made man that every girl wants to fall in love with (when she's not hankering for that impossible bad boy, tatted billionaire!). Joe's the sort of guy you would be proud to bring home to meet your parents because he's reliable, he's a good leader and he puts his friends and employees ahead of himself. But Joe is also hiding from relationships and it's not till Nina comes into his life and thoroughly captivates him that he realises there's more to life than work and being busy.

It broke my heart when Joe found out who Nina really was (it was bound to happen!) and how he reacted. It also broke my heart when Nina compromised with her father because of how she felt about Joe. Fortunately, this is a romance and we have a happy ending.

From a rocky start, this turned into a fun and enjoyable read.
