I always knew I wanted to be a writer and in grade five, I penned my first story, bound it (with staples) and a cardboard cover and did all the illustrations myself (if you’ve ever seen my drawings you’ll know how horrible they must have been.  I still draw stick figures).  Luckily, this book will never see the light of day again.

In high school I fell in love with historical romance and then contemporary romance.  After graduating University with an English Literature degree, I married my own hero, pursued a degree in Interior Design and then opened my own business.

After the birth of our first child, I knew it was time to fulfill the dream of writing romantic fiction.  I’m a hopeless romantic who is living my dream, penning happily-ever-after’s for my characters in between managing kids and the family business.  Writing on a laptop in the middle of the country in a rambling old Victorian house would be ideal, but I’m quite content living in suburbia with my husband, our two young children, and very bad cat.

A chance meeting at a writers’ conference brought Cary Morgan Frates and Deborah O’Neill Cordes together, two award-winning authors who connected because of a mutual love of timeswept fiction. Collaboration ensued, the search for a pen name the first step in their working relationship. Their maiden names provided the solution – and “Morgan O’Neill” was born.

Since that first meeting in 2002, Cary and Deborah have produced seven time travel novels together, with several others in the works. Their backgrounds are uniquely suited to writing stories steeped in atmosphere and history: Deborah has a master’s degree in history; Cary is a talented linguist in French and is currently a student of Latin. They’ve traveled to Europe’s ancient and medieval sites many times, with Cary living on the Continent for five years.

Deborah’s research in genealogy provided the inspiration for several of their plots; discovering she is a 32nd great-granddaughter of Queen Adelaide and King Otto sparked the creation of The Other Side of Heaven and Time Enough for Love, while finding a direct descent from King Alaric I of the Visigoths led to the story of the Roman princess Galla Placidia for their Roman time travel series. And Cary’s love for Elizabethan and Tudor England led to the creation of the Elizabethan novels. It was only after Cary and Deborah were several months into writing about Elizabethan England that Deb discovered she’s related to three of King Henry VIII’s wives: Anne Boleyn, Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr. This, of course, makes her a cousin of Henry and Anne’s daughter, Queen Elizabeth I, who figures prominently as one of the main characters in the Elizabethan time travel series. Recent genealogical research also points to the possibility Cary is a distant cousin of Deb’s, making her another descendant of medieval kings and queens. Stay tuned to see if further research ascertains if Cary is also Elizabeth’s cousin!

Free-spirited artist Mia Argaropolis has settled into the perfect gig—housesitting in NYC’s Upper West Side while working as an art therapist. Too bad she’s stuck living next door to a bossy control freak with a penchant for calling building security when she blasts music to drown out the noises coming through his bedroom wall.

Post-apocalyptic dinner rolls that nearly take her kitchen with them, a douchebag ex, and a Shih Tzu with the personality of Godzilla attack Mia in one day, and her unlikely neighbor comes to the rescue. Like it was her fault. And now, somehow, they find themselves engaged? Both agree, this neighborly feud just got taken to a whole new level.

This was another fun read from the continuing series of the Anderson Brothers by Marissa Clarke. Up this time is stuffy, control freak, number one brother, Michael. I love stories like these. Fun, heartwarming, uncomplicated, predictable. Not saying I have anything against unpredictable stories but sometimes a girl just wants a read that's enjoyable and doesn't stress her out. :-)

I found Mia to be a very interesting heroine because she had so many layers to her. She came across as flighty and irresponsible but mostly, it was a smoke screen to keep people at bay. It wasn't until a moment of introspection that she realises what she has been doing all her life and it was thanks to Michael's insightfulness. Her impulsiveness got on my nerves somewhat, especially when she seemed to constantly jump to the wrong conclusions about Michael. It made me feel sorry for Michael as he had to work through her insecurities for her to get to know him. That said, she was honest and open about who she was and where she was coming from at all times and I admired that about her. I just wish she didn't misread Michael so often and think the worse of him because of her own baggage.

I wasn't certain how I would like Michael, especially considering how the story started but I grew to like as I got to know him. Underneath his serious and controlled exterior, he's a warm, sensitive, insightful guy. I felt for him since he had to work so hard to get past Mia's barriers and her insecurities. I loved that he was organized and he was a man with a plan. He focused on what needed to be done and then got it done. Way to go Michael! Of course, when he lets loose and goes for the grand gesture, he does it in spectacular style.

As for Clancy, well, what's not to love about that silly little dog. I do have a soft spot for Shih-Tzus too since I used to own one. They are silly frou-frou dogs but so adorable. He really added to the fun and adorablness of the story.

I've really enjoyed this series so far and I'm looking forward to Chance's story next.
