We've had some good news recently. Two weeks with no COVID cases in our state now. Western Australia had one case, get this ONE case, and the government went into a hard lockdown for five days immediately. I'm so impressed by the WA government for acting so fast and so decisively. Good on them. I will never complain about a lockdown because it saves lives.
On the reading front, it was a big month. I thought I was going to slow down on the reading but it looks like I read more than I thought I was going to and that was with some big books in the mix.
That's it from me. I hope everyone is well. My thoughts are with you all. Stay safe.
Here's what I read for the month.

You know what's really difficult? Picking out stand out books for the month when I've read so many. It's hard to remember everything and keep them straight in my head. Sad confession: sometimes by the time I go write the review I've forgotten the heroine's name. **hangs head**
Well, I should start with the fact that I was on a Melanie Moreland binge. I didn't read everything consecutively during the month, I took a break in between, but I read a lot of her books. The Contract featuring Richard VanRyan was stunning. So emotional. So intense. And then there was Maddox which ripped me apart. I was so tense reading the book I needed emotional support. Reid was fun and Van was gorgeous. And I can't forget Aiden who melted my heart. I haven't come across a Melanie Moreland book I haven't loved.
Wounded Hearts by Maddie Wade was amazing. This was Drew's book in the series and Drew grew up to be a wonderful young man. Strong, solid, reliable. What a great hero he made.
I also binged on some Jessa Kane books because she's my go to when it comes to short, quick, and sexy reads. The Pitcher's Assistant was so fun and I loved the baseball aspect of it even though I know nothing about baseball. Maybe I just loved that the book was sexy as heck. The Hitman's Angel was another delight. Then there was The Loner's Lady, The Mobster's Masseuse, and An Innocent Obsession. All great. Well, except An Innocent Obsession had a special level of WTFery to it that had my eyes and mind boggling. Woohoo!!
Of course, I couldn't go past two favorite authors too. Jayne Ann Krentz recently released her next Fogg Lake book, All The Colors Of The Night. I simply adore her heroes. They are all so dark and mysterious and I love a mysterious hero. Of course, Anna Hackett had a book out and I loved the action-packed sci-fi romance Storm of Eon. She has a way of writing prickly heroines that makes me love them anyway.
I read a lot of new-to-me authors this month. None of them were outstanding. Most were okay. There weren't any that made me want to read more of their books or go digging through their backlist. They were pretty much one and done authors and books. There were some duds too but I won't talk about those here. Towards the end of the month, after two weeks of experimenting I decided to go back to reading favorite authors where I knew the books would be sure things.
Phew! Honestly, this post took a lot to put together because there were so many books. Kinda makes me want to read less books during the month so this process is shorter.
That's it from me. What did you read this last month? Do leave a comment and let me know.
Stay tuned for what Helen read too.

ReplyDeleteWhat did you think of The Duke and I, I loved that one when I read years ago and if I had time I would re-read all of the Bridgerton series after watching Bridgerton :)
Have Fun
Helen
I've read The Duke and I a long time ago, so I only read the 2nd epilogue. It was good. Sweet and a little bit funny.
DeleteWow. You did have a great month. Mine was average, number wise.
ReplyDelete1 Cut and Run by Allison Brennan. Lucy Kincaid #16
2 Winter Balls by Tara Lain. Freebie from prolific works. Balls to the Wall #9
3 Cold as Ice by Allison Brennan. Lucy Kincaid #17. Bit behind on these as difficult to read hard copy books prior to cataract operation. I really find it hard to believe in this day and age that the author cannot source e formats. Ridiculous.
4 All the Colors of the Night by Jayne Ann Krentz. Fogg Lake trilogy #2
5 Noxx by Tasha Black. Alien Adoption Agency #1
6 Hair Balls by Tara Lain. Balls to the Wall #10
7 Operation Artemis by Susan Hayes. The Drift: Nova Force #4
8 Special Effects by L J Vickery. Paranormal Dating Agency, Gemma-Hydrox Book 7
9 Journey to High Lonesome by Rosanne Bittner. Men of the Outlaw Trail #3
10 Storm of Eon by Anna Hackett. Eon Warriors #7
11 Kade by Tasha Black. Alien Adoption Agency #2
12 Pound by Jayne Rylon. Powertools: The Original Crew Returns #4. Great end to the mini series and introduction to a new one.
13 Lethal Protector by Kaylea Cross. Rifle Creek #3
14 Roman will Fall by Cynthia Eden. Wilde Ways #11

I loved Storm of Eon and I can't wait for the next book, Soul of Eon. It's going to be so good. Also, how fantastic was All The Colors Of The Night? I love being back in Krentz's psychic world. Her heroes are so yummy.
