What Helen Read #61: June 2021

How is it halfway through July already? I feel like it was only yesterday I was talking about how half a year has gone by and it's the end of June. Phew! Time flies when you are having fun. When you are not having fun too!!

Things are iffy around here right now. Our state has an outbreak, a bad one for us, and a large part of the metro region is in stay at home lockdown. Out here in the country region where we are, we have increased restrictions and mandatory mask wearing everywhere, but so far no lockdown because the new cases are still mostly in the metro areas. I pray they don't get out of the country. If people do the right thing and stay locked down and don't travel, it should be fine. We are still limiting going out though.

Things are still up and down around the world and I hope everyone continues to stay safe even if restrictions are lifted.

Here's what Helen read for the last month.

Helen always has a fabulous reading month. Let's see what stood out for her.

I read a lot of good books again this month all 4 and 5 star reads so choosing standouts is not going to be easy. 😊

There are quite a few Harlequin Mills & Boon books this month and I do really enjoy them the take me travelling and give me happy feels. A standout in this line was Michelle Douglas’s Billionaire's Road Trip To Forever and Rachael Stewart’s Surprise Reunion With His Cinderella.

I read a few books set around World War Two this month, all different but all really good. Christine Well’s Sisters Of The Resistance was amazing, Small Acts of Defiance is Michelle Wright’s debut and a great read, The Paris Library by Janet Skeslein Charles is really worth reading and a beautiful romance from Soraya M Lane with The Secrets We Left Behind.

A couple of historical romances that had me turning the pages The Thief by Allison Butler and Sasha Cottman’s The Rogue And The Jewel.

And I can’t not mention Nicola Marsh’s My Sister's Husband. Wow! What a fabulous thriller and Diane Hester’s No Good Deed had a few twists I didn’t see coming.

A new to me author Amanda Hampson’s Lovebirds was beautiful and Stefanie London’s Forever Starts Now is a fun romance with a Thor look a like.

I thoroughly enjoyed Christina Phillips’s, Mel Teshco's and Cathleen Ross’s Resisting The Firefighter, these three stories are so good.

Leonie Kelsall has a new book out this month, The Wattle Seed Inn and it is a must read.

Have fun, Helen.

  1. Yes I am in lockdown here so there will be lots more reading coming up for July but I did read some fabulous books in June and it is always hard to choose standouts, each one is different and I love to get lost in a story :)

    Have Fun

  2. Helen, I'm so glad you enjoyed Billionaire's Road Trip to Forever! I love those characters. And I think we could all do with a little vicarious road tripping at the moment. :-)

    1. Oh yes, I think a little living vicariously through a book road trip would be fun right now.
