Changing my mind about books or reviews

Tick

I try to review every book I read. Mostly I write the reviews for my benefit so that I can remember what it was about the book I loved or didn't love, but I also write and post reviews as part of the bloggity to share my thoughts on certain books I've read. Of course, being a blogger, I get books to review all the time too. However, I am finding that there are times when my opinion of the book changes over time. Let me elaborate.

Asking for book recommendations #1

Book recommendations

I'm in a few book groups and I tend to lurk. In these book groups, very often, a lot of people are asking for book recommendations. A lot of the times, I don't have a recommendation because a lot of the books being requested, I would not read, but now and then, I can contribute and occasionally, there are books I'm interested in reading based on the request. I thought it would be fun to share the book recommendation requests because they are so varied. And hey, you might find a new favorite book.

Let's chat and what I'm reading now #1

Woman with coffee on phone

Welcome to a new feature I am trying out on the bloggity. This came about because I had a lot of fun when I was testing the newsletter and getting it right with extra blog posts and I enjoyed the random nature of it, talking about bits and pieces, and also the latest book I'm reading. I want to talk a bit more about the books I'm reading rather than just posting a review or what I read each month. You'll need to let me know if you enjoy the casual nature of this post and if it's something you'd like to see more of. And of course, shameless plug again, if you want to sign up to get emails whenever there's a new blog post up, you can do so here.

Adding to the TBR #1

Free books

Hello there,

I'm going to try something new. I'm full of bright ideas right now. Working on the newsletter has given me all sorts of inspiration to do more on the bloggity. Anyhoo... any interest in filling your TBR? How about I do a monthly feature with a few free books that you can one-click to add to your book collection and your TBR?

The newsletter is done and I finally got it right. Yay!

Send a mail on typewriter

Hello again,

This is it! Well, as far as I can tell. I am happy to report that I've now sorted out the whole newsletter thing. If you haven't subscribed yet, you can do so here. This means you will start getting emails from me letting you know when there's a new blog post up on the bloggity. Existing subscribers need not do anything. You will be automatically migrated over.

Newsletter announcement and Kindle Vella

Newsletter button

Hello hello,

This is a quick post to let you know that I've got the newsletter/email subscription thingy working on the blog so you will start getting "new" emails via Mailchimp with each new blog post. It will start in the next week or so.

What I'm reading now and a little test #2

Test

Greetings again,

I am back with another test post but I think this will be it. After much testing with help from another blogger friend and much googling, I think I've figured out what is needed for the newsletter. It's not perfect because the technical code is quite limited and I am not smart enough to figure out how to get it to do what I want it to do exactly, but it'll do.

What I'm reading now and a little test #1

Test

Hello there,

There may be a few extra blog posts this week because I am in the process of testing out a new mail service in order to send out new blog posts to email subscribers because Blogger is gettinng rid of the Feedburner service. Such a pain!

What Helen Read #61: June 2021

How is it halfway through July already? I feel like it was only yesterday I was talking about how half a year has gone by and it's the end of June. Phew! Time flies when you are having fun. When you are not having fun too!!

Things are iffy around here right now. Our state has an outbreak, a bad one for us, and a large part of the metro region is in stay at home lockdown. Out here in the country region where we are, we have increased restrictions and mandatory mask wearing everywhere, but so far no lockdown because the new cases are still mostly in the metro areas. I pray they don't get out of the country. If people do the right thing and stay locked down and don't travel, it should be fine. We are still limiting going out though.

Things are still up and down around the world and I hope everyone continues to stay safe even if restrictions are lifted.

Here's what Helen read for the last month.

What Deanna Read #65: June 2021

July already!!! I know I say it every month but I do not know where the time goes.

On the reading front this month, there's a mixed bag. I caught up on posting some reviews of books that I read previously so there's some of that in there. I slowed down the reading and didn't read as much, or at least I didn't think I read as much. Also with our trip away at the beginning of the month, I didn't read at all for about a week so that cut into the reading too. Still a decent month though.

Here's what I read for the month.

Book quotes #8: July 2021

Passion led us here

You know, it always amazes me when one of the monthly features rocks round again and I'm thinking: What? Already? So soon? Maybe I'm just getting old and time moves faster. This a fun post though and I love collecting book quotes. I collect a lot more than I share because well, I read a lot, and also, a lot of things amuse me. I'm easily amused. And also moved. Authors are so clever with their words and I love to share them.
