What Helen Read #56: January 2021

As I'm putting this post together, I'm listening to an audiobook as well. I don't listen to audiobooks often but they are so popular and I have a few purchased from a long time ago. Anyway, I've decided where I can that I will start listening to audiobooks while I am doing some work that will allow me to listen while I did stuff that didn't need the most concentration. Not while typing this though. I turned it off so I could concentrate. Do you listen to audiobooks? When do you listen to them and do you have a favorite narrator?

I can't believe by the time this post goes live that it will be halfway through February already. I feel like the older I get the faster the time seems to pass. How are you going so far this year? Done anything fun or interesting lately?

Here's what Helen read for the last month.

Helen always has a fabulous reading month. Let's see what stood out for her.

Standouts you know how hard this is for me but I will do my best because I did love all of them.

Carla Caruso’s The Right Place was so good and lots of awesome recipes in this one, this is one that has been languishing on the massive TBR pile for a while and I am challenging myself to do my best to make a dent in this pile in 2021.

I read my first Jaye Ford thriller, Beyond Fear and it was a edge of your seat story.

Pamela Cook’s All We Dream was a beautiful story about families and secrets (it was originally released as Essie’s Way).

Rachel Johns never disappoints with her stories and Flying The Nest opened up my eyes to nest parenting, a great read.

My Harlequin M&B books in January hit the spot for sensual with the Presents/Moderns by Melanie Milburne with Breaking The Playboy's Rules, Kali Anthony with Bound By His Business-Deal Bride, and Annie West with The Sheikh's Marriage Proclamation, and Rachael Stewart’s Tempted By The Tycoon's Proposal were so very romantic.

I could keep going but I will stop. I would highly recommend them all depending on what type of book you fancy reading or where you would like to visit.

Have fun, Helen.

Well, that's it for what Helen read. What did you think? Did you read the same books? Different books? What did you read this month? Tell us below.

  1. Those covers look so great together and fabulous books that I would highly recommend :)

As for audio books I really enjoy them and used to listen to them in the days when I was out walking everyday, sadly that doesn't happen for me these days I will have to find something else I can do so as I can start listening again

    Have Fun

    1. Helen, I really feel for you that do aren't able to walk everyday now and listen to audiobooks. There's something special and different about listening to a narration of a book and how these voices bring the book and characters to life. It's really a different reading experience. That said, I'm glad you are still able to read a lot. You had a great reading month.

  2. I have never listened to an audio book. Not in full. I started but found the sex scenes extremely embarrassing to listen too. And the US accents are not those that are in my head. Also, I go to a different place in my head whilst physically reading a book. So unless I ever get to be physically unable to read, then no.

    1. I'm trying to incorporate more into my reading life as I do love the voices. I particularly love male narrators with deep voices.
