What Helen Read #52: September 2020

So happy to report that Helen is continuing to mend and she's back to reading again. She's had a good reading month in September and enjoyed a lot of what she read.

Interesting side note. I have a friend who used to read a lot. Her life has changed and she's not reading as much as she's busy with other things. I mentioned something about reading a lot lately to her and she said that yeah, she used to read a lot too when she had no life. That got me thinking. Is reading something you do if you have no life? I don't feel that way. I love reading and reading is a large part of my life. I don't think I've ever even considered saying that I read because I have no life. I prefer reading over doing a lot of other things. Even over socialising and peopling. What do you think?

Here's what Helen read for the last month.

Helen always has a fab reading month. Let's see what stood out for her ...

It is great to be back reading as much as I used too. 😊

It is hard to pick some standouts from this list because really all of them are so very good. I read some historical, contemporaries, women’s fiction and rural romance so a bit of everything this month, but I will try.

Michelle Douglas’s newest, Singapore Fling With The Millionaire was fabulous and I got a trip to Singapore with it. With Liz Fielding’s Christmas Reunion In Paris, Liz Fielding writes the best stories you can’t go wrong with one of hers and yes, my first Christmas story.

Cathryn Hein’s Serenity's Song was a blast to read. It was emotional and fun, and Eva Scott’s Lonely In Longreach was one I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

Fiona McArthur has a new book out and I can’t recommend it enough. The Bush Telegraph is a must read, and Barbara Hannay’s The Sister's Gift was a page turner filled with emotion and set on beautiful Magnetic Island

A couple of mysteries this month as well. Phillipa Nefri Clark’s Deadly Past was another awesome read in the series, and Beth Prentice's In High Spirits was fun and fabulous. It's a  cozy mystery with a twist of paranormal thrown in and I laughed and smiled

The historical stories I read I also recommend very much I do love a good trip back in time. 😊

Have Fun, Helen.

    2. Gill, it's a good addiction to have. Much healthier than heroin or cocaine. :-p
