What Deanna Read #55: August 2020

You know, every month that goes by I wonder what the next month will bring. Things are so in flux right now it's hard to anticipate. For us, we have been staying home most of the time aside from going out for groceries and medical appointments. We did go out once to celebrate our 23rd anniversary, Steve and I. We had a lovely lunch at our favorite restaurant so that was fun. It's always a good time there.

On the reading front, I think I did pretty well. I hit 200 books read in August and that's a milestone for me. I've never read so many books in a year before. Granted, I have been reading more novellas and shorter books, but I'll take it. A number is a number. A book is a book even if it's short. I'm not sure that will ever be achieved again in another year but we shall see. Who knows what future years will bring.

I haven't counted how many books I've read this month but I probably should. I'm probably in for a surprise.

That's it from me. I hope everyone is well. My thoughts are with you all. Stay safe.

Here's what I read for the month.

I've had some great books this month but sadly, also quite a few duds. We won't talk about the duds.

I loved Lovely Neighbor by Alexa Riley. Such a sweet and romantic read. I'm finding that I'm enjoying Alexa Riley more and more. I'm sad she's no longer available on Amazon but you can purchase her books from her website.

It's also been a bittersweet month with the end of three series I've loved. The Fortis Security series by Maddie Wade ended with Scarred Sunrise, and The Galactic Gladiators: House of Rone series by Anna Hackett ended with Weapons Master. The Moscatelli Crime Family series by Cameron Hart also ended with Found By The Mafia Captain. They were fantastic books and ended wonderfully. They were satisfying ends to the stories and the series but I'm sad to say good-bye.

I read a new to me author called Olivia T Turner. Her initials spell OTT and boy, are her stories over the top. Goodness gracious! I've never read a more crazy jealous/possessive hero. Ever! Pay Up Buttercup certainly had my eyebrows rising over my forehead.

The much awaited Her Broken Alpha by Isoellen was incredible. It was so intense. Seriously, I was hooked and became completely addicted and obsessed with the hero, Darre. I couldn't get enough of him.

And finally, Their Royal Baby Gift by Kandy Shepherd was simply beautiful. So sweet, so romantic. It reminded me how much I love the Harlequin Romance line and Ms Shepherd's books.

Oh no, not finally. I need to mention Julie Rowe's Hell & Back. My goodness! The adrenalin. The action. The suspense. The romance. The hunky, delicious hero. Oh, and another end of a series. So I've read four books this month that were the end of a series. It's some kind of a record, I think.

That's it from me. What did you read for this last month? Do leave a comment and let me know.

Stay tuned for Helen's books next.

    1. Oh, I wish I had the time for a reread, but then I feel guilty since I have so many new books that I have not read yet.

Weapons Master was fabulous. Wish it wasn't ending but I'm looking forward to the next series.
