What Deanna Read #50: March 2020

As I am writing this, it is Easter Sunday. It's a long weekend and what a difference it is this year since we can't go to Easter services at church. My church has uploaded the Easter service onto YouTube and I will be watching that later. During this time, I want to wish everyone all the best whether you celebrate Easter or not. Blessings to you and yours. I'm finding it to be an emotional time what with everything going on and I hope everyone can cling to whatever joy, whatever hope, whatever happiness they have and that each day is a blessing.

On the reading front, March was a slow month since I was away on holiday for part of the month. The trip, as you will now know, was cut very short. What was a six-week trip turned into a three-week trip. While we enjoyed every bit of time we had away, getting home was rather stressful but we are grateful we got home safely. Even the fourteen-day quarantine was not too bad since we tend to be introverted and don't people much at the best of times.

I managed to read a few books while away and then a few more when I got home while we were quarantined. I was pretty jet-lagged so I didn't read as much as I would have liked and I'm only slowly getting back into reading more between catching up on work and some extra home chores that we are finding we need to do.

I hope everyone is well. My thoughts are with you all. Stay safe.

Here's what I read for the month.

I have to say, despite the travel and the jet lag, it was a pretty decent reading month. That said, some of these books tended to be on the shorter side because my attention span wasn't great and I wanted some easy reads.

I had a dream that I was in love with my bodyguard (why I needed a bodyguard, I do not know) and that after he was removed from my security detail, I refused all other bodyguards until they brought him back. This led me to needing to read a bodyguard romance and fortunately, I had a few in my library. Shared By Her Bodyguards by Cassie Cole was thoroughly enjoyable and it gave me my bodyguard fix. I even learned a few things about the American political system. :-)

A highlight of the reading month was having Paladin by Anna Hackett land on my Kindle app. That was the perfect in-flight reading material and I kid you know, I literally read the last sentence when the airplane touched down on the tarmac of the airport as we returned home. What perfect timing! And of course, the book was wonderful. I'm biased though because I do love me some cyborg gladiators.

Three Irish Brothers by Sienna Blake was my first of Ms Blake's books. I'd seen it being advertised over and over on Facebook and finally took the plunge to read it. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the brothers. They made the book wonderful. What incredible men!!!

I'm still on my Mountain Men kick and read the last two of Dani Wyatt's Men of the Woods seriesDeep Cut and Rough Cut. I loved how intense and smexy they are. And about a week ago, Ms Wyatt announced a wonderful surprise. She's going to be releasing another book in the series soon so Rough Cut was not the end. Hooray!!

That's it from me. What did you read for this last month? Do leave a comment and let me know.

Stay tuned for Helen's books next.

  2. Hi Deanna, The Gladiator xmas one, I read some time ago. Not keen on seasonal stories per se and not sure why this would be used in another universe either. Lol. Anyway March was a better month, reading wise.
The Third to Die by Allison Brennan

Black Out by Lynn Raye Harris. Black's Bandits #3

Warlord Reunited by Cynthia Sax. Chamele Barbarian Warlords #4

Toxic Dust by Eve Langlais. Deviant Future #1. This was a fantastic read

Four Love by Jayne Rylon. Ever and always #2

The Rise of Magicks by Nora Roberts. Chronicles of the One #3. This was a fantastic end to the Trilogy

Beautiful Vengeance by Kaylea Cross. Valkyrie Vengeance #5. This has been a great series and I'm sad to say goodbye to the Valkyries

    1. Gill, Happy Easter. Glad you had a better reading month for March. Wasn't Paladin wonderful? I think he's my new favorite cyborg. I sure did feel his pain and torment. Have you read Guard yet? The new release of the novellas in the House of Rone series? I just finished it and loved it.

  3. Hi, yes I loved Paladin. So sad to see this series will be ending. Read Guard the other day. I had read the other 2 stories in the anthology, from Pets in Space. Have you read Hell Squad yet. At least Anna Hackett books are quick reads

    1. No, I need to get started on the Hell Squad series. I have it, just haven't gotten to it yet. I'm so sad the House of Rone series is coming to an end. I have a deep love for those cyborgs.
