What Deanna Read #49: February 2020

Greetings from a very cold London. Very, very cold London. I think I'm starting to get used to the cold though because this evening we went out for a walk and I just had on a long sleeve top and a puffer vest. Okay, it was cold while I was walking but I wasn't freezing and the vest kept me warm. It was a very nice feeling when I walked into a warm establishment and I could feel myself thawing though. If you've never experienced it, it's quite a lovely feeling.

It's been a busy month what with preparing for travel and the traveling itself. Do you know it took over thirty hours of travel to get to London? It is very far away. I did read three books during that time though so I made good use of the lull.

Here's what I read for the month.

Not quite the blockbuster month like I did in January but I did get a few good books in.

I've been in search of some good omegaverse stories and got two recommendations that hit the spot. Choosing Her Alpha by Isoellen and Alpha Breeds by Milana Jacks were both excellent. One a little darker and very intense, while the other was lighter and more humorous but both have elements of what I look for in an omegaverse.

I discovered a new author this month who writes short, steamy stories that were lots of fun to read. I'm pacing myself and trying not to blow through them too fast since they are so short and I'm saving them for when time is scarce but I still want a sexy, satisfying story to read. Sniper and Tatts by Hope Ford were great. They are what Ms Ford calls MC lite stories so all the elements of a motorcycle club but without the violence and gratuitous sex.

Future Past by Biance D'Arc finally released. Do you know I've been waiting thirteen years for this book since the first book released in 2007? It was over too fast and I loved being back in that world. I do enjoy Ms D'Arc's writing and I'm hoping there will be more books in this series and they will be coming out a little quicker than this one.

And I finally read Leather & Lace by Samantha A Cole after years and years of having it recommended to me. I don't know why it took me so long because I was missing out. Thoroughly enjoyed the book and the start of the series. Looking forward to diving into more books from the series.

That's it from me. What did you read for this last month? Do leave a comment and let me know.

Stay tuned for Helen's books next.

  2. A poor month again as still in Benidorm. March should be better, hopefully, as I've got a lot of catching up to do.

Landon by Veronica Scott. Badari Warriors Sectors new allies #1. I love this series and can't get enough of it

Vendetta Road by Christine Feehan. Torpedo Ink #3. I am enjoying this series, but the sex scenes are dreadful. And too many uses of 'very'. Over 300. Again. I really do think she should give more thought to editing.

Cougar Mom by Eve Langlais. Killer Moms #3

Four Money by Jayne Rylon. Ever and Always #1. One of the best polyamorous authors

Survivors by Anna Hackett. 3 hell squad novellas

Better than Toppy by Lane Hayes. Free short from author's newsletter

    13.7

Bishop's Endgame by Katie Reus. Bishop's #3. Rather better than book 2

Honeymoon for the Alpha by Veronica Scott. Badari Warriors Novella. I love this series. Can't get enough of it, as above

    1. Gill, I'm surprised Christine Feehan's book got past its editors. You'd think they would have edited out all the 'very' words. I've only read the first book in the series. I do need to go back and read the next two books. Enjoy your time in Benidorm. When do you go home?

  3. Sadly, I go home on 3 march.
Re Christine Feehan, I get the impression she doesn't do editors. I read that she hates words being deleted etc. She seems a bit obsessed imho.

    1. That's very interesting. How does one publish traditionally through trad pubs and not have editors? I guess you could get big enough that you can dictate what you want and can eschew editors.
