Manview: Untouchable (Cutler, Sutter, and Salinas #3) by Jayne Ann Krentz

Welcome to another Manview. It's been ages since we've had a Manview and Steve has kindly read a couple of books to give us a few. Hopefully, he will find the time to write the other ones since he's getting pretty busy with work again. I'm delighted for this one.

For those of you who are new to Manviews, these are reviews of romance novels specifically from a man's perspective, the reader today is my very own Steve. You can find previous Manviews here.

Untouchable by Jayne Ann Krentz blurb

ManviewIn one or two sentences, can you sum up your overall impression of this book and how you feel about it?

It was a solid read, but a bit predictable after having read the previous two books in the series.

What did you think of Winter and Jack?

I liked both of them as even though they had some relationship and other baggage, they knew they liked each other and were confident in their relationship with each other.

Jack and his family's obsession with Quinton Zane are finally coming to a head. What is your opinion of how this obsession has driven Jack through the years?

Well, since Quinton Zane tried to kill all of them, I can see them finding and processing Zane as a strong driving obsession! And the story did that well in terms of the entire family coming together to find Zane.

Both Winter and Jack have rather unusual skills and professions. Do you think these helped in solving the mystery of Quinton Zane?

I do, and it was an interesting play between them as each could have written the other one off as crazy or at least strange and have been skeptical of each other’s gifts, but they did not, and I think that added a strong dimension to them trusting each other and falling in love.

What do you think of Quinton Zane's own obsession with achieving his own goals and the extent to which he went about it?

He was your typical crazed psychotic killer who wanted lots of money and also to see people die by fire. So it did not surprise me at all that he would go to great lengths to achieve them.

After all the build-up of Quinton Zane as a villain, do you think this was a satisfying conclusion to the series?

Yes, I think the three books built well on each other in terms of building the three individual relationships of each son while continuing to use and build on the previous books. So as a series, it worked very well, and this is clearly a series to read in the order it was written.

Was there anything you didn't like about this story?

I thought it was a bit predictable and lacked the plot twists that occurred in the previous two books in the series. So while it was a good conclusion to the series, I would have hoped that it would have surprised me more in terms of how the outcomes were reached.

What did you enjoy about this story?

I really liked Winter and Jack’s relationship, how it evolved, and the key character role played by the old lady, Arizona.

What's your next read?
