What Deanna Read #27: April 2018

April was a slightly slower reading month but I did hit my reading goal for the year. I only set my goal for a hundred books and as of right now, I'm sitting at 101 books read. I'm not going to up my reading goal because I'm going to be very busy the rest of the year and won't have as much time to read so I figure I am going to coast for the rest of the year. Hopefully, I will find time to read even through a busy schedule.

Here's what I read for the month.

Even though I didn't read as many books last month, I made a pretty good dent into the reading pile. There were some excellent books read too.

For starters, last month saw the release of the final two books in the Quintessence series by Sereka Akeroyd. Oh my, did I love Protected By Them and Loved By Them. I had a serious book hangover after reading that lot. If you haven't read it yet, you need to. The entire series is out so you have no excuses like wanting to wait till the series is complete.

I had a lot of fun with Tempted By Demons by Lidiya Foxglove. The most fun part of the book was when the demons leave their island and venture into the real world. Their first time at a grocery store was hella funny.

Chains of Command by Lily Harlem totally blew me away. Completely. I was utterly captivated by Seb, the hero and he shot to the top of my book boyfriend list. It's been a week since I've read the book and I'm still dreaming of Seb. I want a Seb of my very own.

Of course, I can't leave out Stand & Deliver by Rhenna Morgan because Beckett was a delicious hero. I think he might have overtaken Trevor as my favorite Men of Haven hero ... maybe. It's hard to choose. Can I have them both? #whychoose

And finally, Dana Marton blew me away with her excellent writing in Threat of Danger. This was suspenseful, quite dark, and very much a thriller. Definitely worth the read if you are not the squeamish sort.

That's it from me. What did you read for this last month? Do leave a comment and let me know.

And stay tuned for Helen's reading list for the month too.

    1. Oh man, I love your Anna Hackett fest. I need to read Hell Squad. It's the only series of hers I haven't read yet. The next book, Manu, is out soon. I can't read Pearl Foxx. I DNF'ed a few of her books. I like the sound of her books but I tend to hate her heroines.

  3. Years ago, pre kindle, my target was 4 books a month. Now I read at least double that, often more! I find that books are a lot shorter these days, or perhaps it's because they are E books, and I would find them too expensive to buy in dead tree format. I still read longer books though.
Additionally, I wish E books all had page numbers annotated. I do like to see that!

    1. Oh yeah, books are a lot shorter these days, I think. The average book used to be 300+ pages long, now they are between 150 and 200 pages. I read a lot more books for that reason though my number of pages read is a lot shorter. I've gotten used to the Kindle locations number. I now just convert that to page numbers when I want to know what the book's page count is.

  4. Kudos on that 101 total. That's pretty significant, and looks like you read some really good ones! Hugs...RO

    1. Thanks. Yeah, I'm happy about the number I've read. It's going to slow down significantly now, so I'm glad I at least got my goal done.
