What Deanna Read #21: October 2017

It's kinda hard to believe October has been and gone so quickly. We spent the better part of the month in the US visiting family - we were away for seven weeks!! and got home a week and a half ago. Seems like so long ago now. Adjusting to jet lag and getting over that was a bear. We were going to bed at 3pm and waking up at 3am. We kept weird hours for the better part of a week before adjusting back to normal but boy, it sure is nice to be home.

October was a decent reading month for me. Not great, but not awful either. I would have liked to fit in a few more books but between horrible jet lag and getting back into some editing and critiquing work, I didn't have as much time to read. Still, I think I read some pretty good books.

Here's what I read for the month.

I discovered a new author this month. Not exactly discovered because I've known about her for ages and have heaps of her books - even a few signed copies, but this was my first time reading her books and boy, I got sucked in. I read two of them in a row and definitely wanted to binge read. I would have too if I hadn't had so many books that needed my attention for reviews. Who? you ask? Annie West, of course. Both A Vow To Secure His Legacy and The Flaw in Raffaele's Revenge were excellent reads.

I also thoroughly enjoyed The Legend by Donna Grant. This is the conclusion to a series (great ending BTW!) and also a second chance romance. The ending of the series, I was looking forward to. The second chance romance, not so much. But it worked out much better than I anticipated. Always a bonus.

Secret Redemption by Maddie West was a good read. Ms West continues to improve with each book as a writier and I'm enjoying her work more and more. I'm totally invested in this series now so I'm going to be chasing it from book to book.

Lexxie Couper is always a favorite and her The Irredeemable Billionaire was a super fun and also emotional read.

Finally, Anna Hackett is always a great go-to author when I want something I know I will enjoy and can count on to read. Both Time Thief and Unfathomed were very enjoyable.

Unfortunately, I also had quite a few DNFs this month. Four books, to be exact. Sigh. Some months are just like that. I'm getting better at letting go when I find a book is not for me and not forcing myself to read it. It's still hard though. I have a hard time being ruthless about it.

That's it from me. What did you read for this last month? Do leave a comment and let me know.

And stay tuned for Helen's reading list for the month too.
