What Deanna Read #9: October 2016

Hello, hello! It's the end of October and I'm writing this post early (Oct 30th!) and I don't normally do that but seriously, I don't think I'll get through another book before the end of the month. So sad! Life has been hectic.

As you may know, we are on vacation in the US. Sadly, it has not turned out to be the vacation we hoped it would be because we've spent most of it with Steve's dad being in hospital. As of right now, I'm exhausted and just back from the hospital with dad. Fortunately, this second stint at the hospital has been a short one and dad showed a fast improvement with the care he got there. The hospital he was in is FANTASTIC. All the staff were amazing. Everyone was really caring, kind and patient. The doctors were thorough and patient with us and all the questions we were asking about dad's health. They took a lot of time to explain things to us about dad's condition and how they are treating him. Of course, we are happy dad's home and dad is SUPER happy he's home. He's settled into the living room in his favorite chair with a blanket on his lap watching TV. He's comfy and happy.

Of course, we are happy we've been here to help out and be with mom and dad during this time. It's been a big help to them, I'm sure and we've been glad to be there helping look after them. We are grateful they are both well even though dad will need some continuing care.

So, on the reading front ... sadly, I've only read 4 books this month. I'm working on my 5th book but I don't think I'll finish it in time to fit into October.

I didn't think it was possible to read less books than September (6!) but I managed to beat that. :-( Hopefully, November will be better. I miss reading.

Stand outs for the month includes the latest book Juliette Cross, Dragon Heartstring. It was fab. You can read my review here (I was a little wordy!). Lily Harlem is a favorite of mine for erotic romance and I enjoyed both her books, Desk Job in particular. I have a thing for boss / secretary stories, so this one was right up my street.

Stay tuned for Helen's reading list for the month too. I'll try to get it posted before I get on an airplane to return home.

What did you read for this month? Do leave a comment and let me know.

    1. Helen, dad's back at transitional care. I wrote this post before he got admitted back there. He seems happy and stable, and we hope on the improve though slow. I don't think he'll be out of transitional care before we get home.

Yeah, wow! Your list is long. A good reading month for you. I am most envious.
